For the week of May 16-20

Hello!

This past week, students began editing their Camp NaNoWriMo stories - we'll wrap this up next week. It's been a long process, but it's been so fun! In Social, they created an "Immigration Poster" advertising modern day Alberta. We also had a visit from a group of U of L students who have partnered with our class to develop a Virtual Reality experience (and it included a (virtual) visit with Miss B, our student teacher from the fall, who is part of the group)!

Some notes on our Learning this week:

Writing

  • Finish editing Camp NaNoWriMo stories by looking for complete sentences and using the COPS (capitalization, organization, punctuation, spelling) method and making the changes on their digital copies

Reading

  • Collaborative Literacy Groups
  • Begin our final book clubs

Math

  • Buckle down for the final push. Many students are working towards the advanced level skills and understandings from our grade 4 math program. Others are continuing to work towards mastering the foundational and intermediate level outcomes.

Social Studies

  • Continue our Settlers of Alberta (part 2) unit. This section focuses on the impact British settlers ands structures had on the development of Alberta as a province.

Notes for next week:

  • No special notes!

Thanks for reading!

Mr. V
