... Hello April

Hello!

Well! The last couple weeks have certainly gotten away from me, but hopefully it's better late than never! Please see below for a quick video overview of the last month!

Please see below for our academic focuses in April:

Writing:

This month, we will be working on our Camp NaNoWriMo fantasy writing unit. Students will spend approximately 45 minutes for each of the next 10 full school days working on writing a single, longer, fantasy story. This is such a fun project every year, and the students have already been having a blast planning their stories!

Reading:

We'll be wrapping up book clubs next week, then will focus some time doing Readers' Theatre!

Math:

After wrapping up multiplication, we'll begin working on Division. Area will be next, either in late April or early may.

Science:

We're stepping back from Science to focus on Social this month.

Social:

In Social, we'll be learning in rotating centres, looking at the early history of settlement and immigration in Alberta, culminating in the events leading to Alberta joining confederation.

Wellness:

We have the gymnastics equipment in our gym for the month of April, which is always a great time. Our in-class wellness lessons for the next few weeks will tackle Healthy Eating & Nutrition.

French:

Students will focus on expressing preferences, as well as directions.

Art:

We just did a very cool project for the DEHR Art Show and Sale, which will be happening on Wednesday April 17th. For the rest of the month, we'll do some cool pastel spring art, before moving on to developing covers for our books.

Important Notes for the next month:

  • Monday April 15th - Subway Hot Lunch
  • Wednesday April 17th - EMERGENCE Art Show and Sale (6pm)
  • Monday/Tuesday April 22/23rd - Spring photos (schedule to be announced)

Thanks for reading,

Mr. V
