For the week of Oct 12-14

Hello!

This week the students finished up our work with their mapping project. We worked at some independent literacy centers, and began brainstorming ideas that they might write about. We did some hard thinking about representing whole numbers and how they are made up of different place values. The students also focused on Checking Their Understanding, and developing their own Notes to My Future Forgetful Self. I also had the opportunity to do some 1-1 reading assessments with many of the students (which will continue on over the next week or so).

Some notes on our Learning this coming week:

Writing

• Continue Brainstorming, journaling, and working on writing stamina (for time and for volume)

Reading

• Begin our first Reading Clubs!

Math

• continue Representing and Describing Whole Numbers

Science/Social

• Develop a conceptual understanding of what "waste" is, and how we deal with it

Notes for next week:

• No school Monday or Tuesday
• Picture day Wednesday Oct 12
• Reading assessments continue
