Goodbye May, Hello June!
Hello!
This is it! We're down to the last month of school. We've already begun our 20-day countdown to the last day of school (what?) -- though our days are still just packed. Check out the video below for some of our highlights in May:
Please see below for our academic focuses in June:
Writing:
In June, we'll be delving into the wonderful world of POETRY. I'm very excited about the activities we have planned, and the beautiful, expressive poetry to come.
Reading:
Students have just begun our cross-class book clubs, and this will make up the bulk of our reading time in June.
Math:
We're just wrapping up our Time unit, and then... it's time to review, and complete our year-end cumulative assessments.
Science:
In June we'll be wrapping up our Plants science unit, culminating in our Waterton field trip.
Social:
Our Waterton Lakes field trip also contributes to our social studies understandings (national parks, and Alberta's history).
Wellness:
Students will complete the final Kids in the Know lesson, as well as a short Nutrition unit. We'll also be OUTSIDE as much as possible, enjoying the warm weather!
Art:
In art, students will be creating Artist Trading cards again; but this time for each other!
Important Notes for the next month:
- Thursday June 13th - Field Trip to Waterton Lakes National Park (leaving the school at 7:45am!)
- Tuesday June 18th - Grade 3-5 Water Fight (pm)
- Thursday June 20th - Sports Day (pm)
- Wednesday June 26th - Final Day for students!
***Also, I do a fun "countdown to the end of school" every year. Please look for weekly updates regarding these activities, as some may involve students bringing materials from home***
Thanks for reading,
Mr. V
